THE TOUR:
A relaxing excursion with wonderful natural landscapes, in places rich of history
(the area of Vendicari was one of the ancient colonies of Sicily) where you can go
bird watching with binoculars and cameras, observe the rare plants of juniper and
thyme, enjoy the beach and the warm spring. We will pass near observation huts
for bird watching, to observe them while swimming or feeding in the numerous
quagmires. Continuing our walk we will reach the big Pantano Roveto, then we
will move towards the northern area, to visit the Tonnara, an establishment dated
1.600 AD. used for the processing of the tuna, which stands on the remains of an
even more ancient structure. Then we will proceed towards Pantano Grande and
Pantano Piccolo, used in the past for the production of salt. Continuing along many
coves we will reach the wonderful beach of Calamosche, where we will take a little
break and a swim – for those who wish to – in the crystalline waters of the reserve.
San Lorenzo Beach in Marzamemi , is located just outside the boundary of the
reserve of Vendicari, it is a very charming coast stretch characterized by large
beaches and small coves. The beach of San Lorenzo has fine sand and turquoise
sea which allows even children to enjoy.
